This is pretty much the return of a old topic I started in Ragathol's older forums, and it was one of those topic you either loved or hated.

I don't remember much how the topic went, but I do remember how much fun we had back then. Ragathol, I know that this is probably the last thing you wanted to see again, especially as a first topic on your Mondo Mecho forum, but hey, nostalgia is always best served cold.

In case you others don't know what I'm talking about, I'll refresh your memories. Before Ragathol put Mondo Mecho in hiatus, we were introduced by a full combat cyborg which I nicknamed him Mr Smiley because he had this creepy smile, or at least to my impression he had a smile.

So to say the least, after the horrific (but totally awesome) sequence where the main characters, Jill and Gemma, got to witness Smiley attacking a old man and tearing his head of (!), you could say that I was more or less awed on how the comic developed. So... yeah, we had a lot of fun discussing alot of things, theories, ideas plus some random stuff and such.

But I don't really expect anyone to actually discuss this topic again after what, two years of hiatus, I'd just though that it looked so empty in the Mondo Mecho forums, so I figured why not starting now?

A good initiative!

While MM might be rather dead at the moment, no doubt, in one years time, it will return from death like a.. well, mayhaps a full combat cyborg with integrated defilibrators, telomere lengtheners, apoptosis halters and cell multipliers! And until then, we will have to let it suffice to discuss it. A weak and unsatisfying kawarimi, yes, but that's what we got.

Uuuh.... I dunno what to say, though.

Well... We COULD talk about two important things here:

1) What will Mr. Smiley's role be in MM, and what kind of character he will be?

2) What the HELL is a "kawarimi"?

Ahh, have you ever seen the anime show "Naruto"?

I guess no, in that show there is a ninjutsu (ninja magic for those that don't know what it is) called "Kawarimi no jutsu", this technique is translated to "Replacement technique". Kawarimi could therefore be translated as replasement, which fits nicely into this context.

On the topic of kawarimi: the term is not really exclusive to Naruto. It's classic ninja terminology.

On the topic of Mr Smiley: I cannot say anything. My lips are sealed!
